Taylor Swift is more than a global sensation; she's an all-weather phenomenon. With a fanbase that’s massive and fiercely devoted -- Swift has the most No.1 albums of any female artist in history and The Eras Tour is the highest-grossing tour of all time -- her concerts are epic, weather-influenced celebrations.

When Swift meets the weather, it’s serious business.

Swift’s resilience in the rain is legendary. “It’s like playing your guitar in the shower,” she pronounced in The Eras Tour Concert Film.

But her concerts can also be hot. At a fateful show in Rio de Janeiro in November 2023, a fan died of heat exhaustion. Events like these underscore why reliable weather forecasting isn't just about comfort; it’s a matter of safety. At Salient, this is our focus – reliable, accurate, calibrated S2S forecasts that provide actionable insights in service of safety, risk mitigation, and climate resilience.

Here we use our forecasts to investigate the weather in store for Swift’s 2024 concerts.

The 2024 Eras Tour: A Weather Outlook

Rain or shine, Swift performs. And so do her fans. For this reason, concertgoers must be prepared for the weather. Plus, outfit and travel planning are half the fun for fans. Let’s use Salient’s seasonal-to-subseasonal forecasts to look ahead.

We're predicting a warmer, drier start to the tour in the South Pacific.

Salient predicts February will be drier than normal for tour stops in Sydney and Melbourne and March will be hotter than normal for the concerts in Singapore.

Precipitation and temperature in Salient’s seasonal forecaster at 4-6 months lead time are the predictions to pay attention to for the shows this summer. For Europe’s tour leg, expect dry and hot -- ideal for those outdoor jams but stay hydrated.

Swift will arrive in Europe mid-May, hitting Paris, Stockholm, Lisbon, and Madrid. In June the tour stops in the United Kingdom and Ireland, followed by concerts in Amsterdam, Zurich, Milan, and Germany in July. The Eras Tour Europe whirlwind will conclude with August shows in Warsaw, Vienna and London. Shown here are Salient’s months-ahead predictions for summer 2024 -- hotter and drier than normal.

U.S. Swifties hoping for rain-drenched performances might want to pack lighter -- a drier autumn is most likely ahead.

In the fall, Swift will bring The Eras Tour back to the US, with stops in Miami, New Orleans, and Indianapolis in October and November. We forecast a drier-than-normal fall season, so those who love a drenched concert may be out of luck.

In Summary

In a world where every concert is an epic celebration, being prepared means never having to miss a beat. So, here's to weathering the weather, come heat waves or downpours, and to Swiftie experiences that are as magical as the music itself.

PS: Did Salient catch the heatwave in Rio ahead of time? Yes, we did.

Did Salient forecast the high temps in advance of Swift’s November 17, 2023 concert in Rio de Janeiro when a fan died of heat exhaustion? Yes, we did. On October 1, 2023 we predicted a hotter than normal November.

PPS: Did Salient catch the rain in Foxborough, MA ahead of time? Yes, we did.

In one particularly memorable show in Foxborough, MA just outside Boston, Swift and her fans danced through 45 songs in 3.5 hours of deluge. Salient caught the late May 2023 rain coming to the greater Boston area weeks ahead of the show. Shown here is our forecast generated May 7, 2023 indicating above-normal precipitation for the week of Swift’s May 20, 2023 show.
